Приєднався 3 лип 2015
Im an HVAC tech and small business owner in South Georgia. My videos are mostly for instructional purposes for novices, and experienced techs alike. I also wish to show people considering entering the field exactly what to expect. It’s hard work, technical, and at times we are in dangerous places. But, most of the time hunting for the problem, and fixing it is a fun way to spend a day.
Entering the trades such as HVAC can be very rewarding. I want those who are considering entering a trade, instead of some kind of traditional bachelors degree, that as skilled technicians we make really good money. I won’t go into detail, but I easily make more money than the engineers that designed the equipment I work on. If you are hard working drug free, willing to learn, and stay out of trouble you have a leg up on 95% of the competition in the trades, and can advance rapidly into higher paying positions.

That place is a disaster. No thank you.
Don’t let him catch you on your nose 😂😂😂😂
I'd say if they limit you to a two hour diagnostic for all of their ragged mess, you don't need to walk away, you need to run. Glad you made it safely off that roof.
That blower motor didn’t sound the healthiest on that air handler. Curtis I have fired several clients over the years, does wonders for mind knowing you’ll not have that headache again. Never need to put up with abuse, life is too short not to be happy.👍🇨🇦
Package until need time to diagnose and fix.
Good job...! Keep up your awesomeness....!
Some days there is just not enough Curtis to go around😅. That roof has almost zero drainage! You need to charge extra for a boat lol
Yep, It's that time of year again !!! Good Reminder video curtis !!! Out in California here We Get them Behind the Ladder Racks going to the Roof & inside the Package units on the Roof. That Wasp & Hornet spray is Great stuff !!! i Allways carry one on the truck. i actually Marked a ladder Rack with a Sharpie on the Outside to Remind People Going on a Specific Roof that it was infested with Hornets on this one Roof. Marked - Bring Hornet Spray on this Roof !!! Gotta seal those holes guys. Keep the Bugs out. Use Silicone sealer. Careful opening up Ladder Racks Guys !
The bucket trick? Is that where you release r-22 into a bucket of water to "filter" the chlorine? 😂
2000 watts only draws 60 amps on a 12 volt system
Thanks for the patience. Great work.
Just a few tips on working on a swap roof it you want to pick up the service. Recommend piping the condensate traps to the nearest roof drain . Anytime you have 1 of 3 condenser fan motors out you can blank off the bad motor with cardboard to prevent the hot air from recirculating into the condenser, it will drop your head pressure a bit. Try not to take the blower panel off when running because you run the risk of the insulation ripping off into the blower wheel Check temp splits first. Good work Curtis.
So the R410A is still available for recharges on older units.
I think the issue with the 20 plus years unit is the CFM(cubits feet per minute), condenser air flow ratio or inside unit blower fan air flow ratio. The numbers may look good on the charts delta t or thermostats for saturation, superheat or subcooling .also there may be a restriction in the air flow in the condenser coils, people cut grass there every once a while the grass looks pretty trimmed and mowed ,you should check the all those things to rule out any inconsistency . When I say cut grass meaning debris flies and get sucked in the condenser coils creating air flow restriction to efficiently cool off the hot refrigerant ,or maybe the brand new motor is just not match for the age old unit too fast or too slow CFM .MAYBE when you put the amperage check it showed up 1.00 amps and the motor says 1.5 amps running amps . In this case ,keep in mind every year there are improvements in motor technologies, perhaps is of higher efficiency and less resistance the reason it requires less amps to run. Better copper windings design or better build. Maybe is too fast and air is not dragging slow enough to cool in the evaporator. I would check with the manufacturer of the unit and look up recommended speed of condenser fan.

Yep, sometimes people just want to be mad no matter what the situation is
I refused to step on a rooftop full of water. Ever. Made it to retirement age. Without doubt you've been shocked 100's of times. That's nothing compared to electrocution. Seen that.
Next time bring a push broom
Insert the top first
Great job,Curtis!
the owners think they hired the 2 for 1 landscaper a/c tec !!!
Thanks for taking care of the dogs. You are a great guy
And yes I understand the bucket comment
I know feeling. I been stung 3 times already.
Can't complain about comercial work we did about 70 residential 30 comercial vary few nightmares comercial but damn that looks like something out of a steven king novel 😅😮😢
If that spray ever stops working with your local wasps, get some "Stryker Wasp & Hornet Killer". That Spectracide spray just ticks off the wasps around here. It used to work.
Units too big run lol
Swamp cooler in the south
Curtis you did the right thing; looks like that place wasn't maintained properly in awhile! lol
I have a friend that only does commercial work. The only commercial work I did was my own. I don't blame you a bit for turning that nightmare away. Good video
Cardboard would have to go over the hole of the non working fan
When you looked at the first unit, you commented “that one’s not sweating back “can you please help me understand what you mean by that?
That cold line in this heat and humidity "sweats", so if it isn't it is not working. Using site instead of touch.
@@jthonn thank you for the clarification. I would’ve thought that the low pressure vapor line would be insulated. On my residential system, it is at least up to the service valves
I think I hate being chased more than the sting. I've jumped clean off a 40ft ladder when I was working under an eve. It was only the 3rd or 4th rung but still.
Didn't knew you did commercial too nice
Spectracide is our Home Town (STL) Brand of Weed and Lawn Products and Wasp Killer Spray. 😬👍
WASPS mean one (1) thing, Chemical WARFARE. 🤔👍
That stuff is going to dry up and suck back up onto the condenser coils.
That roof looks like a real mess; it would be nice is they provided drainage into a large pipe for all the condensate to be drained!
I was on a roof last week and almost jumped to my death lol
Using the bucket I’m a truck driver and we always carry a bucket with bags in it never know
If I get stung I may need an epi shot, severe allergic reaction
The louvered panels on the make up air are upside down.
all I see is live electric that was and may still be in water. yikes !
Make that money
You have another man in the field too ?
What’s “sweating back” mean?
That cold line in this heat and humidity "sweats", so if it isn't it is not working. Using site instead of touch.
Ouch!
Hello Curtis. I feel your pain. Early in my career I climbed fixed stairs on the outside wall to rooftop commercial units. I remember starting on the 5th unit when a coworker came up and bumped a huge tree rooftop level. Thousands of angry Bees started diver bombing me, I covered my head and could see the shadows of them as they hit me hard. No way to get over to stairs without getting stung repeatedly. It took a trip to the closest ER for me. I'll never forget that day. After that we were given bee bonnets for protection. I still have them as we each had plenty of them.
Electrical hazard working in water, mosquito breeding ground, slip and fall hazards and who knows what is in the water.
Yes, slip and fall against a live 480v circuit while standing in water, and you become a conductor, aka "toast".
Ahhh yes the old 9340 DPDT MARS your the man!
